AFW Pilot Peter Cranston Wins Jefferson Award
May 25, 2010 - Angel Flight West pilot Peter Cranston was recently honored with the Jefferson Award for Community Service in Southern Nevada. Sponsored by Wells Fargo and Channel 13 Las Vegas, the prestigious Jefferson Award is given to individuals who perform a great public service, largely without recognition. Cranston has been flying with Angel Flight West since 1998, and was nominated by good friend and fellow pilot Alan Welch.

New Promotions at Angel Flight West
As Angel Flight West, Inc. continues to grow into its second quarter century of arranging free air transportation for non-emergency medical and other compelling human needs I am pleased to announce the following promotions:
Cheri Cimmarrusti to the newly created position of Associate Executive Director. In this newly created position, the Associate Executive Director will be responsible for Mission Operations, Wing Operations, Pilot/Passenger/Provider Outreach and Public Relations. This position will focus closely on the numerous daily challenges necessary to accomplish the mission of AFW allowing the Executive Director to focus on administrative functions with an emphasis on fund development. The position supervises the Director of Mission Operations, the Outreach Associate and works closely with Wing Leaders and their teams.
With thirteen years experience as a Mission Coordinator and Director of Mission Operations, this position recognizes the contributions Cheri has made to the organization and formalizes her responsibility for several of the areas she has already been significantly impacting.
Josh Olson to the position of Director of Mission Operations: For the past several years Josh has been working closely with Cheri as Assistant Director of Mission Operations. He will bring this experience to the position of Director and is the ideal choice to assume the Director's responsibilities. In this position he will have responsibility for and manage the arrangement of all missions and related tasks. Mission Coordinators will report to Josh.

Angel Flight West Supports Relief Efforts in Haiti
Thanks to a generous donation of miles from Alaska Airlines, Angel Flight West is actively supporting relief efforts in Haiti after the tragic earthquake. As of February 2, 2010, we have facilitated the flights of 55 doctors, nurses, and other relief staff to Haiti. This is thanks to 2,000,000 miles donated by Alaska Airlines and another 215,000 donated by Alaska Airlines customers.

Angel Flight West and Passenger Brittany Grush Featured
in the Times-News
Angel Flight West (AFW) passenger Brittany Grush was featured in the Times-News Twin Falls, Idaho in August 2009. Diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma - a form of bone cancer - AFW flew Brittany to and from Camp Discovery to join five other cancer survivors in a week filled with outdoor activities.

Angel Flight West and Passenger Dana Harvey Featured
in Santa Monica Daily Press
Angel Flight West passenger Dana Harvey was featured in the Santa Monica Daily Press in May 2009. Diagnosed with breast cancer, AFW flew Dana between her treatments in Los Angeles and her Oakland home more than 15 times in six months.

Pagosa Springs Sun and Pagosa Springs Daily Post
Angel Flight West flew 11 wounded warriors and their significant others roundtrip to Pagosa Springs, Colorado for a five-day event in June. Hosted by the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), the event brings together Wounded Warriors - soldiers severely injured during active duty in support of deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan - for activities such as horse-back riding, fishing, spa days, fine dining and more.
